It looked like the swell was going to drop below 4 feet up north, though still a tight interval of 8 seconds- might be decent diving up in Mendo. So my friend, Il Martello, and I sent my crazy pup Skipper ahead as a scout. She reported back joyously that there was plenty of beach and ocean ahead so the mission was ON!

we got out through some milky water but found decent pockets of anywhere from 8' to 15' viz. Spent a glorious maybe 2 1/2 hours out there. I don't mean to disrespect anyone's religious beliefs, but that time in the water truly feels like soul cleansing to me. Looked like we might be coming in with just middling blacks, which doesn't really bother me, but then in a weird coincidence, we stumbled on soe decent lings out free swimming. Strangely we both nicked two and they escaped, but with team work we (luckily) were able to get them on the stringer.

A thoroughly awesome day out in the briny deep. One team member sacked out big time on the haul home. I feel at peace again!

That's my kind of church.  The one where you're in "it" and the only one to count on is yourself and maybe a buddy or two while the natural world is clearly running the show :)
Beautiful :)
