I just read the post from Bill about the battery box. I liked the idea for the type of box to use, but something I've found to work great for the actual power connections, instead of cutting a hole and installing a grommeted connector. I just take a couple of small stainless steel bolts, a nut, and a wingnut for each bolt. Drill a hole for the bolt, make a loop to fit over the bolt in the wire to the battery. put the bolt through the hole, and tighten the nut on the outside. (this secures the bolt to the box) then just put the wingnut on and leave the battery connected to the bolt. I use a little sealing goop on the inside and your set. Make one for each terminal.  It won't rust, or leak, it's solid, cheap and quick to assemble.  :smt002

Might you have a picture?  I am a visual learner.

Thanks jonesz!  It does look simple.  Do you have any problems with it sliding or sloshing around in your hull and damaging things, especially with the wingnuts exposed?

Seems like it would be good to have an inline fuse just in case it ever accidently touches up against a metal object like a net or gaff handle and shorts out.

Exactly.

This system is functionally identical to just having your battery in the open, with the exception that you now have terminals with wingnuts, rather than tabs, 9v connectors etc...

I did have a problem with the box sliding around in the hull. I solved that problem with a piece of velcro glued to the bottom of the box and the bottom of the hull.. :smt002 Keeps it pretty snug now.

Also, when your transporting it around you can just pull one of the terminal wires off on the inside and there's no shroting hazzard.  :smt001
