Wondering if anybody's has tried this yet.  Thinking of using it for trolling using the back rod holder.  Looks like you can angle it so you can easily grab your rod.

So this is what, $200 each?  :smt005 *grumbles at Hobie brand*

That looks nice but not really needed for my AI, I don't think.

$47.99 retail.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/222144412454?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

You can use it on your AI, hull only or one ama configuration.

Wonder if it can be used on other brands? Just wrap some duct tape on the base . It would be nice if it had a screw adjustable - expandable base shaft. Kind of like Ram does with their ball adapter inserts. I'd buy that!

I have a very similar rod holder that clamps to the rail on my PA, I don't always use it but definitely useful for some situations. I particularly like being able to quickly slide fore or aft on the rail as well as adjust the angle.

So you have to use 2 straps to keep the adjustable rod holder from rotating? Why not just use Scotty rocket launcher with a gimbal adapter?

I use them at an angle to keep my rods from touching my sailing line without the straps.  It's easy to change the angle.  I'll probably use them on my "Adventure" for trolling without the AKA/AMA.  You will need to use the straps though during trolling.

I tried one out at CCK San Carlos.  I like it and got one.  Plan to use for trolling.

Although I'm a certifiable Hobie fanatic, I'm still not seeing the advantage of these over Scotty rocket launchers.

For me, it makes those rod holders in the rear of my adventure useful because of my sailing lines.  I like having the Scotty RL up front.

Got it---thanks. That does make sense.
