I was the first to show up....then Kevin and Bill. We trolled towards the narrows and got hit by "Hurricane Del Valle" Bill paddled back while Kevin and I fished a bit more and then headed back. We threw in the white towel. And as soon as we had out yaks loaded and ready to go...the weather turned for the better :smt011 But the call of In & Out Burger was too powerful to ignore  :smt002

To make even a short story shorter....we went "fishing" and not "catching"  :smt003 But it's all good - had fun stuffing my face with a "4X4" burger and talking story with da boyzzzz :smt003

Good to see you again Kevin! It's been a while!

I am surprised you went out.Tried to warn you about the wind. It was really rolling in Saturday afternoon when I left DV. Should be better this weekend. Will probably hit Shadow Cliffs on my kayaking (no catching) tour of the east bay. Eat too many of those burgers and you may have to switch to a Prowler Big Game.

Adam -

Haven't hit SP or LR this year. Water clarity should be better at SC this weekend. Will probably hit Loch Lomond if there is a week between storms.  Launching on Friday at 7AM. Company welcome!

I'm taking Friday off work.  If the weather cooperates, I'll see you at LL.

Kevin

I will probably be at Shadow Cliffs this Friday because LL gets really muddy after a big rain and takes about a week for clarity to improve, at least that has been my experience. PM me if you think LL will be good this Friday for artificials (no powerbait or worms for me).

scott, powerbait is pretty artificial,  :smt002.

for me, I just can't still fish. that is the distinction for me.

still fishing usually means bait.

I will troll a worm and dodger for sure!

how about trolling scented grubs off your downrigger?

that seems like it should work pretty darn well.

so I went out sunday at quarry. even got there a little earlier.

trolled in the driving wind and rain (made it more fun actually)

got skunked again!  :smt013.

I saw a lot of posts that said the weekend was a little slow.

I'm always happy to share my skunk with da mooch and bill tho.

if they get skunked, you are in good company at least.

Yeah I am a wimp. It wasn't the rain, it was the wind. Here is an idea of the great conditions we had...

John

Sorry to hear you got skunked again.  I agree the issue is more about still fishing. Too many years fishing from shore. I really enjoy kayaking even without the fishing or catching. Even when I paddle by shore anglers who are catching fish when I am not, I still wouldn't trade places. Yes I do use scented plastics but not power bait because it dampens the movement of the lure.

Couple of brave guys right there!  Can't turn "fishing" into "catching" from home, way to give it a shot.
