Thoughts on this type of transducer mounting method?

Just happened upon this video on YouTube. I think it's an interesting way to contain the water for a water bath method. Any thoughts on if this would be effective with a Lowrance Chirp?

I think it's a cool idea but trying to fit and glue the container to the yak is going to take too much work.  I would just glue a transducer pad (you can make your own or buy them) and use water bath or Goop it. 

I experimented with the Lowrance Scupper mount but I didn't like the fit and it wasn't rigid enough.

I do the same as the video except I used a tupperware container and you don't need to bother to mount the transducer to the lid to keep it off the bottom of the yak. I just made a slot/hole for the cable to go through the lid and drop it in the water I put in the bottomless tupperware container.  As long as there is water between the transducer and the bottom of the yak, it works.  That the transducer contacts the bottom of the yak doesn't matter.
