I changed the first drawing I thought it should have two pointed ends
incase you had to tow it a short way.

This will be allot stronger than a crab pot buoy and should have over 100 feet
of line I will have the prototype as soon as I can

This system I think will work prefect I can tell just by looking at it :smt001

Duane...

Maybe you and I can work out a trade for a gaff once you get that bad boy tuned in.

Duane,

Does this iteration omit the freely rotating spool and just resort to manually winding the line onto the narrow part between the floats?

i can make it spin or not what do you guys think?

I kinda like it to spin but it is hard to make a good handle to do that.
I am not real happy with the handle on the crab buoys but I wanted to get it done
for the Fred hall show

now I could make a folding handle but I will take a lot longer
as it is I will have to rent a tig welder to make the anchor buoys cant use the plastic
crap that went on the crab buoys I think it would break if I did

so I will do the spools on the anchor buoys in aluminum
but if I did make them spin I would put a nice long handle on the bottom
so you would have something to hang on to when you reel in the line
it is still up in the air so we will see

OK so whats it going to be spin or no spin?

If a welder needs to be rented I'll split it with you for a quick job on my trailer.
Frank

By the way I like the spin idea myself.

Doesn't need to spin in my opinion.   It's more of a "nicety" than a "necessity".

Just my 2cents - A revolving line winder could be a speedy advantage but maybe not that much - you would still have to guide the line on the spool to keep it even and this you would automatically do if you were winding by hand. The other thing is that it's one more thing to go wrong down the road - jam-up, come un-glued or start to slip, in which case you are back to winding by hand. IMHO keep it simple! I'm doing an anchor trolly now on my Marauder and I really appreciate the design Insaneduane has come up with for the bouy part, I'll borrow for sure. It's really great to have a place like this to share ideas. I'm still wondering how you do the 'Pig-Tail' part, is it a SS spring or do you make it yourself? Thanks, Tom
