Heh Paddlers!

We're hosting a South Bay Slough cleanup weekend on March 17 & 18, 2007.  We'll be launching from Palo Alto at high tide, picking a slough and paddling into it, then hauling out the tons of CRAP that's floated into the slough during the winter.  We did a recon trip last Satuday and the slough we randomly picked was FILTHY with floating plastic, old tires, etc etc etc.  You won't believe the numbers of balls, for example, washed down from gosh knows what playground.

There's nothing too hazardous-looking floating around, just lots of floatsom washing down from up above.

Interested?  Stay tuned and I'll post a link you can sign up on.

Hopey you can join us! :smt006

Cheers

Some pictures from Saturday's recon voyage down a test slough.

We didn't even touch 1/1millionth of the floating trash, but our boats were still FULL of floatsom by the end of the trip.

Should be a productive paddle.... :smt003

Hi Anglers!

Well we're doin it! The recon trip into the sloughs last Saturday was a big eyeopener.  Talk about JUNK!!!! Plastic bottles, every kind of ball imaginable, old tires, even a kid's swingset. You name it, it's there waiting to be hauled out.

So we're definitely doing a 2 day cleanup effort March 17 & 18. We meet at the Palo Alto launch ramp.  Then we kayakers will paddle over to the nearest slough (Probably Charleston, but maybe Steven's Creek).  Non-kayaker will drive to Steven's Creek slough to which John has the key to the barbed wire gate, and permits to walk into Steven Creek Slough.

The 2 groups will meet in the middle and dump trash into trucks we'll have waiting to haul out the ton of JUNK! How cool is that?!?!

Even better: FREE TSHIRTS from Adopt-A-Creek!!!!!

Online RSVP is required so we have enuf gear and such waiting.  To RSVP for either day, or both days, you must RSVP at the websites listed here:

To RSVP for the SATURDAY March 17 2007 cleanup day, meet 9:30am and launch about 10am: click here:
