Right on! This is a great post and seeing a successful catch makes it even more compelling. Don't we all tend to think of ourselves as "lone wolf" hunters out there? But wolves hunt in packs, so why shouldn't we? Confession, my last dive was solo, probably a dumbshit move. But I totally want to get on board with this movement.

I'm curious- besides having a good catch, did it seem like you had more to share and talk about afterwards? Like you knew when your friend had a fish, or maybe found the backdoor of some structure he'd found and saw an ab or scallop in there? I know when I'm out with a friend for a hour or more, it's usually been like we were on two different planets- I don't usually see where he/she caught something, much less get any useful tips like, "Hey there's a solid wall of big abs right under here...." That kind of stuff?

Thanks again for the timely report and good luck and safe diving out there!! Hope to catch your one down/one up routine in person one of these days!

Thanks everyone  :smt001

Nice Job Antonio and JT.  Been doing the best to implement the buddy system as much as possible

I know we talked about it recently.....I'm glad you are adapting as well.

Nice work Antonio!  Good to hear about your safety precautions.

I'm trying Martin last solo dive was probably GS9 when I got you those uni.

Glad to hear you guys are practicing safe diving techniques.

Nice catch too!

Thanks Rob too many stories of dives going South. I think about the incident you were involved in and never want to put my family through that. I have much respect for you brother.

You have convinced me to work on this too. If we end up diving together next week help me with the rhythm you speak of.

Will do Rob. What day are you going to get there? Bringing tanks still?

Since I still do have that "Lone Wolf" mentality etched in my brain. We allowed enough space between us so that our float lines wouldn't tangle and we both dove our own plan. The only difference was that we were constantly monitoring each other on the surface.

I always knew where he was and if he was going to dive, rest during a surface interval or take an extended break and visa versa.

He would not dive until I acknowledged his request to dive and visa versa.
Upon surfacing we would monitor each other for approximately 30 secs before giving each other an OK signal.

In the past we would not have been so in tuned with one another. We would just know the general vicinity of each other and sometimes even lose track of one another.

Hope that answers your questions.

Awesome!!! How was the uni inside?

The uni were tasty....some had big gonads and some on the small side.
Have seen worse and also better.

One of the abs was really fat and the other not as meaty. Both were over 9-3/4 ".

Not a lot of bull kelp in the area although there were plenty other varieties of seaweed in the area.
