2nd Annual Estero Kayak Challenge - Registration is now open!

Hey gang! I'm happy to announce that registration is now open for the Estero Kayak Challenge tournament. The date is June 4 and we will be fishing at MDO this year! I am also stoked to say that we got the price down to $70 this year from $85 last year. I know it is still pricey but this is a cash payout tournament and your entry enters you into all 4 divisions and includes an event shirt and Captain's bag. You can see the tournament information page for more info. on the breakdown of fees.

The main tournament festivities will be held at Morro Bay State Park campground, which is also where many of us will be camping. The camping will fill up fast both at that location and at the Monatan de Oro campground. If you have questions feel free to ask them here so others can see them or you can PM me.

All proceeds from the tournament and raffle will go to Heroes on the Water. Come out and join us for some great fishing and competition, hope to see you there!

All right gang we are about a month and a half away from EKC 2! The weather is warming up, the fish are biting, and by the time the tournament rolls around the winds and swells should be dying down. I think we've put together another great event this year and I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of you guys there.

Like last year, the tournament is a cash award event, paying out 3 places deep in 3 of the 4 divisions. Plus, the awesome raffle that benefits HOW. As always, all proceeds, after expenses, goes to Heroes on the Water.

The clothing order needs to be submitted a couple weeks before the event which means you need to get registered in the next month for correct sizing. After that, you're gonna get what we have on hand.

Jimbo, I see that the Saturday availability at Morro Bay State Campground on Resere America is zero. I'm sure the locals have room to share in typical kayak fishing fashion. But, if you want to bring the trailer and the boys: I looked and there are sites still available at El Chorro Regional Park. That campground is about 10 minutes away from the main campground and about 25 minutes from the fishing location. Bishop has basic campsites and Chumash has full hook ups, lots of availability and it is reviewed highly. Bring on the good times.

Hey guys, yeah the campgrounds filled up fast but the sites are pretty good size and if folks would like to attend you can let me know and I will put the word out for people with extra room or you can post on CCKF and I'm sure guys will help out.

As Amos said, El Chorro still has plenty of space and isn't too far away. It is right on HWY. 1, across the highway from Cuesta College.

If I get out of a demo day here I may just show up. Will be fun to win, fish, no, win sounds better, somewhere new.

Rob, the CCKF boys aren't real stoked that NCKA guys keep coming down here and winning our tournaments, lol!     Last year Goz took this one, we'll see what happens this year. If anyone could just show up and take it though, you've probably got a good shot at it. Hope you can make it brother!

Sorry to say I won't be able to defend my crown at your 2nd annual EKC  . I'll be on the East coast attending my granddaughters high school graduation. Had a blast last year, and was looking forward to it. Hope to come down your way to check out your kayak shop and fish this summer. Fished MDO last year a couple of times, great spot with lots of structure without having to go too far.
I have the trophy on my mantle, what a beauty. Hope he's making another.
