I am new to this type of fishing and would much appreate any information on how or meet someone at a beach for some schooling.

Look for the troughs in the beach, fish an incoming tide, they can be right at you feet. Early in the day is usually better than later. Use a sliding egg sinker with a swivel stop and a 2' leader. A popular lure to use is a MORF (motor oil red flake) 1 1/2" curltail grub. Or for bait, shrimp, pile worm, mole crabs. Rather than casting way out, get next to a rip or dropoff and cast more parallel to the beach, and let it swing with the currents. Keep one eye on the waves at all times... good luck.
