On the opener I saw a guy with this awesome fricking squid imitation lures getting ready to launch and asked him how much they set him back, think he said like 50$ each and had two of them.  I was like oh man, loosing one of those must hurt!  :smt044  Think I lost two B2 squids, a swimbait and an iron that day.  All of them had been used previously and had caught me many fish.  Didn't sweat loosing some junk, but if it was a pricey lure I would have been hella pissed.   :smt044  Someone once said that if your not loosing gear, your probably not fishing right.  I tend to agree, but all the tips given have worked for me at one point or another for me.  Mostly try not to set the hook when it's a rock, and double back over your drift to get back on the side you were hooked on work for me the most. :smt002

Good sound advise!
Thanks Man!!! :smt002
Got a bunch of 6 & 8's leadheads, that should help on those fast drift days.
Gonna get out in about a week, we'll see  how I do   :smt004

I tend to use an ounce of leadhead per 10 ft of water. Has served me well in the past. This kind of fishing expect some loss, but it is where the tasty fish live! Think how much it would cost at the fish market if you had to buy all your fish, plus your on the ocean. No better place on earth!

I have found that if I don't get snagged occasionally, I don't catch fish.  I find that reversing direction will frequently free the snag but if not, losing jigs and swimbaits is just a natural part of fishing for bottom fish.  I sometimes use Andy1976 lead jigs and assist hooks attached to the top of the jig.  These almost never snag and have been very effective.
