Was gonna try and get some crab this weekend, maybe try a little fishing. The swell looks like its gonna build with the long period and make beach launching muir pretty tough and I dont want to replicate my trip there 3 weeks ago (yardsale), so Im thinking Doran. Anyone have a recent report? Is it possible to get any lings or rockfish without rounding the jetty (basically heading towards the big rock due south) or do we need to head that way for any structure? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Anyone able to get out today? Wind looked like it might have picked up by noon

Sorry for the late response. Sadly, I have to say today was pretty bad. Went out from the jetty, stayed north, circled back around bodega rock and back to the jetty over a span of 4 hours. Not a bite, lost three lures, and cut my finger. Most people were crabbing and not fairing well. Upon leaving I met some guys who had spent their morning at timber cove with only one rockfish and one ling (22in.) caught. Everyone agreed that next weekend it would probably be best to head south down to Monterey and beyond for the bite is better in warmer waters.

LPs report scared me away from crabbing. Hit up ARW instead and worked pretty hard for just one 18" at 2:20p. Released easily. Met an ncka'er on my way out, forgot his name, but told him I'd post a report. I got the one shaker trolling back against the last of the outgoing with a herring dodger and frozen herring.

I was the guy you ran into on your way out. Good to hear someone got a butt that day... Earlier there were 15+ boats in the area and only 2 guys out of all of them caught shaker butts.
