Went out to Lake Sonoma with my buddy Gary.  We had our rods and reels and bows.  Put in at Yorty Creek and slow trolled night crawlers out to the main body of the lake for nada.  Lots of crap in the water and it was brown, brown, brown.  Reached my pig hunting spot and pulled the boat up on the shore.  Changed into my boots, put on my pack frame and stated looking for pigs.  Found a lot of rooting, but nobody was home.  Lots of deer and turkeys.  Hit my chantarelle spot and found about 8 (maybe 2 lbs worth)  They were in amazingly good shape for as dry as it has been.  We took about 80 lbs out of this spot last year.  I think in about a month it will be going off again.  Look forward to some NCKA company now that I have it dialed in.

Dave - count me in.....I'm not a hunter but always wanted learn how to hunt - specifically for wild bore AND off a kayak - that just sounds so "old school"....now who wants to lend me a gun  :smt003 :smt068

Seriously though, I'm willing to take a test or a class to get started with hunting....but for now, I'd like to learn how to find and stalk game :smt045

I have a lot of respect for bow hunters - I think they are the "special forces" of hunting. Being able to track down a prey and sneak up to it within "arrow" range is pretty "super hero" like :smt002.......just like the free diving spear fishermen :smt023

As far as bow hunting, I don't think I'd be good at it.....just remember that I'm the guy who has problems sitting still and being quite all day waiting for tiny nibble from a sturgeon :smt003 Just give me a gun that will kill a prey from a mile away and I'll be a happy camper  :smt003....oh...and I'd like a 70 round mag automatic rifle and a scope that can see the planet Mars......just in case I miss my first shot :smt003

We should have a NYKA blast and cast tournament.  :smt005 If we can't find anything to shoot or hook we can switch to mushrooms.  :smt013
