Hit the Alameda Rockwall Saturday from from 11-3 for one missed hit on a bounced swimbait. In other words, the smell of skunk was thick in the air.

I intended to use bait, but learned the hard way that the West Marine on the island carries squat for fishing tackle or bait. I could have gone to Mike's or the other WM in Oakland, but was already running late at that point. The sabiki didn't produce so swimbaits it was. Nice day on the water through the end of the incoming tide and the start of the outgoing with light winds. There were power boaters out, but I didn't see any action from them or the people fishing from the rocks. Winds were kicking up as I left.

Cheers,
Brad

i think conditions were not ideal, too big of a tide swing.

i will head back there this weekend for my revenge on the butt that straightened by hook and escaped from my net.  gaff will be with me this time!

Good luck on the revenge hunt Agoodhi. I'll try again on a smaller tide swing and with bait, but I ended up having a window of opportunity so I decided to give it a go.

Great meeting you Sledge, and Annie, Nick, Cody and Tim -- definitely a good time of the Sonoma Coast. The bite was pretty slow especially for the RF, but the lings and cabbies were hungry.

Cheers,
Brad

the other WM in Oakland,

Don't think they carry bait there either.

Is central bait closed?
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Central bait burned up quite a while ago.  Ohh, Sledge we have new competition at the ARW, my 4 year old grandson caught a 6 lber by himself while we were on brdopry's boat drifting the second wall the 30th April.  I did get lucky and got a 8 lber.

Hillary was in Oakland,  smell could be that lingering around.  :smt001

Is central bait closed?

There's a bait shop on 14th Ave (Oaktown), just above Foothill.  No, it's not conveniently located in Alameda, but it's not too far away.

Thanks for the report.

May try and hit that up as well on Saturday, unless HMB or other coastal spots predict lower swell and wind.

Good to know about the Big 5 bait.
