Hi I don't know if this is the place in the forum but I would like to hook up with someone to do some freedive abalone and spearfish the north coast. From the Sacramento area would be nice but we could still meet at Vallejo , Jenner or Santa Rosa. I can dive from a kayak, beach, cliff wherever.
My experience I have been freediving for ? well I lost count around 40+ years.
Kayak fishing is also very much in play too....
Thanks

I'm game to expand my list of dive partners as well -- I've been diving for abalone for 10-15 years fairly regularly and got into spearfishing a few years ago so I'm getting out a lot more often (although not often enough lately). I'm based in SF and am up for dives from Mendo to Big Sur, kayak or shore. I sometimes have flexibility during the week, but mainly a weekend diver.

Cheers,
Brad

Hey that's great guy thanks for the reply's. Now how do we connect I don't want to type out my email here obviously.
Is there private way on this board to send an email to other members?
Dave

OK found members list. My email is setup so its "ok" to send me an email, then when either of us is going we can get in touch quickly. The way the weather is sometimes its difficult to know as to what the weather is going to be on a particular weekend or weekday until a few days before.
But ya I am ready and kayak fishing is very much on the list too. I just bought a new fishfinder a Lowrance elite 4 HDI and wow is it the ticket down scan and map tracking and setting waypoints its awesome.
Let me know!

I mostly dive down around Monterey just cuz I live so close, so if you are thinking about coming down this way and wanna hook up just let me know!

My dive schedule revolves around family and work so somedays when its is good (like tomorrow is gonna be) I can't go.  :smt012 :smt010 :smt005

BigJim yes I have been looking to come down that way to fish and dive for awhile now I will email ya. How deep do you usually dive if its calm water?
Can you go during the week it does not matter to me I am retired.
I dive a lot during Ab season and spearfish and you wont have to baby but sit me super deep is not where I am at now though.

Sounds like we should all get together for a dive, since the season is just around the corner
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Yes that is a great idea I am retired so any day works for me. Fishing, ab diving and spearfishing its all good. I am just like a little kid before Christmas. I am actually loosing sleep over it...wife thinks I'm nuts, ya maybe. Now if this El Niño crap ever settles down we can get out on the big pond.

Hey SRDave,

I typically have some flexibility with work so I'll keep you in mind when conditions line up for a mid-week dive.

Cheers,
Brad

I don't usually dive very deep...the shallower the better!  :smt002

Plenty of shallow/varied depth stuff to explore around here.

I am generally a two day a month weekend warrior cuz of job, wife, kids etc...sometimes I sneak out for very early AM sessions or very late PM sessions to feed the habit when the wife's not looking.  :smt002 :smt005

I'm pretty busy in April with a trip home to New Orleans for a cousin's wedding (and hopefully a dive out at the rigs) but May and June and early July I should be able to have more freetime...end of July am off to Nicaragua for another wedding (and hopefully a dive  :smt005).

I'll keep you posted and hopefully we can get you down here.

Sincerely,

Jim

BigJim I would like to get south. Spent my whole life up north and recently have noticed in the summer that it can be nasty up north and quite nice around Santa Cruz. You wont have to baby sit me either I been doing this a long long time. For me its all old school stuff but it works. I like the shallow-er dives I can stay down longer and cruse around looking.
For all of you who have invited me thanks so much for that and hope to meet you all sometime this summer. When this ocean settles down I will post lets hook up and go. Abalone is first on my list then spend a little time spearfishing. Unfortunately opening weekend I will be in the city taking care of some business but from April 4 on its game on.
