Hello,

I have a Hobie 17t that is on a trailer, since it is a beast to carry around otherwise. So I am looking for a place I can launch from a boat ramp preferably.  What areas along the Sonoma coast are there that I can do this?

I am relatively new to saltwater fishing. Most of my experience is on freshwater lakes, so not really up for launching from the surf just yet.

Thanks in advance.

How well can you back that trailer down steep, narrow, curvy roads with vertical drop off?  That's any ramp in kayak range of rockfish in Sonoma county. Most are several hundred yards you have to back down, even ocean cove. There is a trade off for all kayaks.....

Timber cove, steep, tight, drop off, but ought to be very doable with that size trailer, driving forward, as long as the beach parking isn't too jammed up.

We used to launch a 14 ft inflatable, and I've seen boats up to 18Ft down there.

What do you mean by "drop off"? And I expect to be there in April sometime.

Yeah dude, Ocean Cove or Bodega are your only real options.

Drop off meaning one wheel off the edge of a narrow dirt road and down the embankment/cliff you go.

At Timber Cove they used to use their 4WD to launch boats across the beach, not sure if they still offer the service but you might be able to get it done if you have a 4WD.  With 2WD you drive down and back to within about 50-100 ft from the water across a beach.

2 guys, does the trailer have a winch?

Worth a look for a calm day.

I have had our zodiak launched from Timber Cove but she charges per head in the boat!  :smt013 Never will do that again cost like 50 to launch that day. Good thing I am on a kayak now! Ocean Cove is much better a spot to launch.

Technically Marin County, but Lawson's Landing is worth a look.

If you had 4 guys to carry it, just park at TC and carry it to the water, it's not that far.
