Love from Del Valle

I found lots of love from Lake Del Valle today I got on the water at 8am started trolling 10 minuets in fish on I always tell my self to go back over the same spot but I don’t usually, this time I listened to my self and it paid off. By noon I had boated ten trout and lost three others. I was trolling a rainbow needle fish on the surfaces and a fire-tiger broken back Rapala on the downrigger, down seven feet. I was the only Kayak on the lake but it was a great day wind came up about noon but it was OK I was heading in for the day.

Sure wish I had the time to drive there. I really need to catch a fish.

Hi Pat,

Nice catch.  Do you used some weight on the needle fish or do you pause for a little while every now and then?  Or maybe, you have a lot of line out?  Hard to kept the light lure down in the water.

I troll with a needle fish.  But, it has always been on my downrigger.  I like to use a kastmaster as my surface lure.

J both lures did about the same the Rapala seemed to catch smaller fish then the needle fish.

Ken I for got to say I had a vary small flasher on with the needle fish no weight and I did have a lot of line out.

jmairey I have fished there before and never produced like this time just got lucky

Mooch I was there on Saturday not as much boat traffic and not as much catching going on as Sunday I was the only kayak on the lake.

Way to go!!!  What a nice stringer. Too bad your son didn't make the trip from Sacto. Just need a DV striper and you own the place. See you out ther in a few weeks. Still working on my garage clean up to make room for my new ride.

Soon on the Stripers just got to learn how and where and what they want. A couple of weeks sound good but not for Trout my wife said shes getting tired of Trout
