What up!

I'm Eddie from San Jose/ South Bay.  I've just recently got into the sport of kayaking/diving. I'm still extremely new to the sport, so I figured I'd get on a good forum for advice from more experienced divers/kayakers, as well as a place to share the stories I'm sure I'll make in the future.

Hope to learn a lot from you guys,

Eddie.

EDIT: I have like two hours in the water, not owning a kayak and el nino have been the limiting factors. I finally purchased my first yak two days ago (A santa cruz raptor ). Now I'm waiting on El nino.

Welcome Eddie!

I'm also from the south bay.  San Jose to be exact.

I don't dive but I fish.  :smt044

Take safety seriously!  PFD, VHF, and compass to just name a few.  There are tons of threads on the board regarding the issue.  Peruse them at your leisure.

I'd also add that you should practice self rescue but I'm not sure how that would happen in a Raptor.

Welcome to the madness!

Good choice of a kayak, btw...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Welcome to the madness.  After addressing all safety concerns and equipment needs you need to get out and meet new friends and have a good time on or in the water.

Take a free diving class and learn all about safety and form.  You will be a more efficient and safe diver
and it's worth the investment

Diver Dan's has a free diving course I can enroll in. I think they do classes monthly. Are there more reputable courses in the area that are worthwhile?
