Anyone hear of squid reports this winter? I'm getting bored waiting for crab.

I dunno if you're talking Humboldt Squid, but I heard that they went looking for them out of Bodega Bay in the last couple weeks. I haven't been able to find out if they got into them though. Gonna have to make a call tomorrow.

I was thinking of alternative prey for crab fest. Post up if anyone gets a report.

Rick hasn't made it out yet because of the weather, he cancelled this week's squid trips but has one scheduled for Sunday. He'll be looking for them from 600' out. He said that big commercial boats are picking up good numbers of them as bycatch. He doesn't run crab/squid though :smt012 too much to deal with with one outing; makes sense with a potential thousand or two pounds of squid on deck, then having to pull gear. He's booking trips though! February is generally best. I'll probably keep waiting for a couple weeks until I know he's into them and then make one trip, after all, how much squid can you possibly deal with? Don't even think about mothershipping for these things you sickos!

But if I don't mothership that means I'll get the boat nasty with squid!
