I bought a pair of Scotty fender rings:

They are extremely loose in all of the Scotty mounts I've got (and I've got a lot of Scotty mounts...). In fact, they're so loose that they would fall out if you turn the kayak over (and the slot happens to line up), making them unusable. Any suggestions on how to get these to work? Thanks.

i noticed that too.  since they are marketed as "fender" rings, my guess is it was meant for downward pull, not upwards.  mine are collecting dust now...  i was also surprised at its size.

Maybe, but it still doesn't make sense to me that they'd be so loose fitting. I can't see any possible harm if they fit like normal. Btw, I've also heard that their camera mount is very loose, to the point of being wobbly, and that can't be a good thing:
