Hi All,

Any one out there use a GPS app on their phone to keep track of where they have been fishing and where the Protected areas are?  It would be cool if there was an app out there where you could input the GPS coordinates of the MPA and it would then show it and your location in real time.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Navionics App is excellent.  Not cheap, but works great.  Automatically includes the MPAs.

$10 is not bad, and if it saves me from a ticket, that's well worth it!

Thanks for the info!!

just so you know, the $10 is an annual fee i believe.  after the annual fee, you get to keep the maps you downloaded, but won't be able to get updates or some such.

What bmb said....  Navionics not cheap but works pretty well.  Some of the topo apps might work because they  often have USGS topos and they "may" have the special areas marked and they "may" plot your location.... Most of the topo programs that use the USGS stuff will be way out of date so watch yourself.

As the others say, Navionics is the way to go. The only thing I'd differ on is that it seems like a major bargain to me. Of course, that's compared to my handheld Garmin GPS, which currently resides at the bottom of a lake...

I think you may be mistaken about the upgrades costing extra. I have upgraded several times and I don't believe I've been charged.

And yes... It's a great app. Here's a screen shot:

Ha! And I can confirm that updates don't cost extra. I clicked the upgrade button shown above and downloaded the update in a matter of seconds.
