FishingAddict, my nephew Jared and I went to TC to get our last chance of getting some lingcod for the 2015 season.

We were the first ones to arrive and a few minutes later Otobepelagic arrives, too. Got on the water right before sunrise, light wind and very cold weather but calm ocean welcomed us.

Mel bought us some fresh (dead) bait from the Asian grocery the night before. As I dropped my line in 35 ft of water, I hooked up almost as soon as I feel my weight hit bottom. Dang! What a way to start a fishing day. Brought in a 26inch lingcod for my first ling of the day.
Action was pretty good the first 2 hours, Mel's magic bait help me hooked up almost a dozen lingcod.
I got my limit of lings within 2 hours that's including throwing back a few trying to keep lings 26in and over, longest at 29inches. Mel caught one over 30inches. Tried to find the rock fish but they were scarce for us.
Just have to also add that there was this power boat that kept following Mel almost every where he went.... So funny. Lots of power boats and kayak anglers.
Off the water by noon, Mel, Jared and I all had our lying limits, and some RF as bonus.
Was nice meeting you Otobepelagic. Fun watching you catch with your Christmas lures.
Great way to end the season.

I drove down to TC with P-Sherman and his young nephew Jared.
Beautiful conditions greeted us on our last RF trip for 2015.  The Lings were on the chew from about 7am to 10am then the bite died down.  The RF were scarce.  I was fortunate enough to keep 3 nice Lings to 31 inches.
I filleted my catch and gifted them to family and friends.  I kept just enough for a family meal.  My wife cooked them pan fried, then baked with wine, capers and other spices.  These Ling fillets are wonderful.
Happy New Year to all!   :smt006

You Got That Vic!!

Great Times On The Water! Showed up expecting to be the first to arrive but that was not to be...but at least found parking below. Turtle'd the kayak to the beach and made a few trips back and forth and soon it was time to launch. Chatted it up with others...they were set and then pushed off in near darkness. Paddled out a hundred yards and just sat there taking it all in... knowing it was the last day on the blue  for months to come. Eventually others launched and it was time to fish. Started out with my "Holiday" set ups and caught a few fish including a 20 inch cab that was photo'd and released. Cruised around watching others hook up and snapping a few photos of their bendos and moved on.

As the others attested it was game on for a couple hours and then things went dead...I mean you couldn't even hook the bottom ...that's how bad the bite died. With that it was time to make the rounds. Hung with Craigers, Glynn, Mel, Kyle,  and others a bit and them just went out...dropped a lure and sort of chilled on the water....might even have dozed off ChuckE style for a few minutes.

Decided nothing was working so I deployed the mangled "Holiday" lure again and sort of drifted around. Low and behold I got the only bite I had heard of in hours..C,P, & R"d and was satisfied.

Almost everyone had gone in except Glynn and his buddy (they got a late start) so I decided to call it a day. The water was still calm and inviting but had to call it at some point. In retrospect (thinking how the rest of the night went,....asleep by 9) I should have stayed out on the water as Craigers suggested and watched the sun set on our final 2015 ocean season....wished I would have stayed..........

Hit the beach, cleaned the fish, chatted it up with good friends, new friends, and headed home...

Another Great Day On The Big Blue.....we will miss YOU.... for now, but other adventures await..See You In The Spring!!
