I take mine. Secondary means of emergency communication. It goes in a double seal freezer bag in my pfd.
I only fish on days that end with Y

Never again will I use a dry bag to hold the cell phone.

Bag had pin holes.  Enough water came inside the kayak and the bag was standing on a puddle.
The the end the cell phone got soaked.

Today, keys, wallet, camera and phone go in a Pelican box.

But you have to take it out to use it! I take pictures, answer calls and emails. Good to 100 ft, but doesn't float. $25.

I've seen my buddy put his cell phone into the drink several times with a small PELICAN case...

Don't know if I would use a plano, but if it works...

But if you trust that thing with your cell phone, maybe i would trust more tackle with it without  getting all rusty...

Sometimes bring it, sometimes not.  But if I do it gets a zip-lock baggie to protect it, and stored in my dry bag.  Haven't had an issue yet, but it's like gambling.  :smt044

I was actually looking at these Leader Accessories heavy duty vinyl PVC dry bags on amazon that look sick.  Sizes from 5 liter to 55 liter.  I picked up a 10 and a 20 liter size for like 12 bucks a piece.  we'll see when they get here but i think they're going to be bulletproof.
