I've always liked the textured surface of a fishing kayak for multiple reasons.  Easier to grip, especially if you're trying to right it,  but mostly I like how it hides the scars / scratches that occur, because I'm clumsy and bang my yak into every obstacle that gets  in the way...
Smooth has it's "Wow" factor, on the showroom floor.  All shiny and new.

   What's your preference?

Ribbed (textured) for more pleasure.  :smt044

Exactly for the same reasons you mentioned, but nothing too aggressive, otherwise I'd worry about accessories not seating/sealing well against the hull.

I like the combination of both like my new yak.  Textured in areas where they need to be...and smooth everywhere else.

Smoother is easier to clean. I don't think I would want anything much rougher than my T-13. If can hold a lot of slime, grime and blood.
I only fish on days that end with Y

Guess I like them both, but need to have a spot for stickers if it's textured though.

Dislike the way the rough areas on my Big Game has weathered but love the amount of grip and traction it provides. In the end, I'll take function over form.

Slippery on the bottom, rough on the top.
When I shift my body around using my arms I don't want my hands slipping out from under me. And when I self rescue I want my hands to stay where I intend them to stay.
