Hey I may have finally carved off a few mornings to fish my kayak over Turkey-Day-Week, and I'm trying to time it to the tides and sun, but all I can find about Port tides is a tide table for the Sacramento River near I street (totally different water system.) Can anyone give me any idea if there is a rule of thumb for calc'ing tides based on Sacramento ( +1 hour or -1 hour?) All of the forum searches I have tried are dead links or links from 5-10 years ago and don't seem to apply? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!  :smt003
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Yes, that would be real helpful. And throw up a hook up and/or trip report when you get out there. The Port is a mystery to me - I've been skunked there all three times I got on the water!
this guide should help you:

last time i was out there there was so many birds working the area. just follow them around and you'll get hooked up. i think i caught at least 20 shakers until i got my keeper.

I've never been able to reliably catch stripers out there, unless I am soaking bait on the shore and even then only shakers, but if there are salmon there I can usually hook up by sheer persistence.  :smt003

Me personally I just get there at 5am and fish until around 5 pm.
Yeah I get skunked sometimes.
But there is always something new to explore there.
Oh yeah, follow the birds...

If you have an iPhone, try the free app called 'Tide Graph'. It has been my preferred for years. Use the map feature to find tide locations near where you are fishing.

Just google Deltaboating.com and pick the area your going to fish to get your tides. The only time I would calculate tides if I were chasing the tide while in a bass tournament and you don't have a smart phone to check different areas. You also need a fast boat to chase tides on the Delta. You have a thousand miles of rivers you can navigate there. A little bit of info the east side of the Delta will fill first before the west side. Roughly from high tide in Stockton to high tide at Rio Vista is about a four to six hour difference Stockton being high first.

When launching I like to go checkout the loch. Super easy way to check where the tide is exactly. The loch holds water at a different level and a very simple way to check the accuracy of the tide info from websites. I may, or may not have landed some nice salmon there this past monday  :smt003. The tweakers lingering around the jefferson st bridge is great entertainment too lol.

Ive had some very long fruitless striper trips out there as well. I prefer live bait drifting personally while casting the 2nd rod with a lure. thats what my biggest striper from the port was landed on.hope this helps! Fish on!
