Hi everyone,

Just recently got way too into yak fishing through a friend... I've been going out of Half Moon Bay with rented kayaks but am looking into buying one (renting adds up...)!  Any advice on what to look for in a used kayak?  I am particularly looking for a tandem with a pedal drive system (Hobie Outfitter, etc).

Cheers!
Azhar

Welcome to the madness.  It is very addictive.  Me and Da Bruddah like to run out on his Hobbie tandem in HMB.  We like it just fine function as a team.  Has good speed too.  I'm also quite sure from the bottom, a tandem Hobbie does not look anything like a seal.  Gets to about 4 mph.  So as long as you have a good teammate, it can be really fun even though everyone tell you not to.
Even when we don't catch, it is a lot of fun.    See ya OTW.

Hey Herb (The Boss)Lingading and NCKA Bruddahs,
I totally agree that the my Hobie Tandem Oasis is great boat. There are definitely advantages to going out tandem, like a lot of extra power and Herb and I have great team work to find good fishing areas. Paddling in and hauling up and cleaning the kayak is much easier. Yeah, even when the fishing is slow we have a great time sharing stories about our lives!!!
It's not like we don't want to catch fish, but for me it's great therapy to get out on the ocean with a good friend!!!
Coming home with some fish for dinner, nothing better!!!
Welcome to NCKA, the greatest group of Kayakfishermen around!!!!
Aloha,

I don't have any advice to share about tandems, but welcome! I may live in Concord now, but SF will always be home. Bernal Heights represent!
