If you go this route just be careful and inspect really well. I watch as the rental yaks come flying out of the shop and take a few foot drop onto the sand. Maybe the yaks can handle this but I would be mad at myself if I let mine take the same fall. Anyway not trying to be a hater, just letting you know what I have seen.

MOst shops sell their demos and rentals this time of year. Dan at The Headwaters is selling off his stuff, and has some great deals for those in the Central Valley 

good point I have had two recreational days with this shop-where we had enough water come into one of the kayaks in our group that it tipped over--they also do not do 'great' jobs on the repairs they do sometimes

inspect--take a test paddle first on 'any' used kayak...i got a c-list too once for 300 that was total junk---hindsight...but if someone tested one and it held water and was stable--300 aint bad..I know the ownere and he is cool dude...they would not intentionally screw a guy--imho

It's probably employee negligence. I am sure the owner would be upset if they saw how the yaks were treated. I bought a yak from a fellow NCKA brother. I didn't test paddle, I trusted that it was a kosher deal. It was.
