Looking for good, value-packed survival / wilderness skills training in central / northern California.  Here's a site in the Santa Cruz area:

http://www.adventureout.com/survival.html

Anyone with experience with this outfit?

See other places on the 'net.  Any worth traveling to?

Thanks.

OMG!!  I would totally want to do this.  I've watched every episode of Survivorman, Man vs. Wild, and Extreme Survival on the Science Channel and Disco. Channel!!  Who's In?  I'm sure we could get a group discount if we book in a group of three or bigger.

HKA puts on a four day workshop called wilderness skills for the coastal kayaker. It covers the basics fire, shelter, water. orienteering, signaling, first-aid, etc... It's geared to situations a coastal kayaker or river boater might find themselves in. It's experential based learning rather than watching some expert make fire ten different ways for five hours. I was an instructor at the teaching drum outdoor school for three years and before that I served four years as an airborne ranger going through intensive survival courses in varying climates all over the world. drop us a line if your interested. No date set yet, probabably mid summer.
