You can record in 1080p and format video post processing for whatever resolution you need.

I run 2.7k at 30fps and then downscale to 1080 to upload to youtube.  It looks a bit sharper than running 1080 on its own.  Plus, then I have a higher res video that looks awesome to play on my tv or computer at home.
