Well, after 10+ years, its finally time to upgrade my fishfinder. My Garmin has been very good to me, both on my PB for 6yrs and on my Revo for the past 4.

But with the high power demands of the unit, she had to go.

Was contemplating going with the Dragonfly, but with all the issues ive read, went with the reliability of Lowrance; that, coupled with the SWEET deal i got on the unit.

A couple of changes i went with was:

- minimizing the number of connectors and connections on the wiring; too minimize the risk of wire corrosion.

- relocatine the transducer bath closer to me, just in front pf the center hatch; this will make it easier to fill on the water when i forget to do it before i launch.

I also used a larger water bath and coned it out, to improve the angle of the sonar cone. Not sure how good the HDI will function shooting theu the hull; but didnt wanna deal with an external arm to deploy the transducer.

Here's some pics of the install so far:

Congrats on the new toy. You'll be fine shooting through the hull. Upgrade the unit software via Lowrance.com and take advantage of the insight genesis sonar recording.

What do you need a new FF for?  It's not like you fish anymore.  This must mean you are losing arrows in the lake.   :smt044

Accidently :smt009 removed parts of my vinyl screen name on my kayak, so I had to redo them....

Since I was, I thought I'd take this time to document the process; except I don't know how to show them from my gallery photos (and it was a bitch try to upload them and create my first album  :smt013)

I think this is the hyperlink:

Here's the final product; first pic is in normal light, second pic is what it would look like when illuminated:
