This lake is just as easy as going to safeway and buying 5 trout.

Ive heard of the Alpine opening, unfortunatly they, the marin water district, have said the same thing for years, but inside word at western outdoor news is that this time its going to happen this year. When it does I wanna be the first one with a ff on that lake!
We should get a ncka regatta on opening day for sure!

Those "gobies" are actually a species of sculpin, same genus as saltwater cabezon.  I think those are either prickly or riffle sculpins, both very difficult to distinguish.  Probably are good bait.  We get tons of them in our downstream migrant salmon traps, in fact they are just as voracious a predator (they get up to six inches) as a cabezone.

Mooch,
that's it, Crystal Springs Res. I was talking to one of our volunteers a month ago, and when I got around to the subject of Alpine, he mentioned they were also considering Crystal Springs.  That's all I've heard one that place. Read in the paper about the Alpine deal. I'll say one thing. Everytime I drive by Crystal Springs it makes me drool.... Both are nice lakes begging to be paddled  :smt001

Would those lil'cabbies be in creeks that drain into the San Pablo Bay? We thought they were "inbreeds" or "cross-breeded bullhead with mudsucker.
Thanks for the I.D. Bluefin!!  I was gonna send a pic of one to Brians' Fish Talk- but no need now....either way there getting put on a hook to live out there dreams. :smt002

Hey Guitarzan,
Nice fish!!!  Where were you fishing?  We were at one of the first points and only got 1...  any suggestions where to fish that lake to fish compared to others.  Also, were you fishing on the bottom with PB or using cast masters?

Want to catch limits as well,

divndc: I fish the points on the north side, usualy people there, but there's plenty of room, the trick is to get the PB out farrr, almost an oversize weight with a tapered bass weight in front to split the weeds when you reel in.
Stocking is usualy done on Wed or Thurs and if you can be there when they stock,at the dam, its 5 casts, 5 fish, with any lure. The cormarants know when they stock also, its all you can eat for those guys.
A smart-cast portable FF is a great help in locating the schools I bet, but I havnt brought mine yet, next time I will.
