I tend not to read the reports cause I'm not really sure how to. I checking on this app called magic seaweed and it said 10ft swells at 12sec at hmb. Is that rough?

10ft swells at 12sec at hmb. Is that rough?

When ever the 'height of the swell' number is is close to the "interval seconds" number, its not going to be a good day on the water.

By your numbers, you will get hit with 10' swells every 12 seconds; a rollercoaster ride. that coupled with 3'-4' windwaves coming from the west, its gonna be a washing machine...

sometimes you wont know till you get there , sometimes they`re right on the money , sometimes they`re way off.

I have read one thing got to my location and it was as forecast, I`ve followed the forecast and stayed home only to find from friends it was like glass and the fishing epic..I`ve followed the forecast got there  , it was wrong , the weather sucked and left..

It`s weather ,it changes

I use either NOAA or willyweather.com..I like willy.

Hopefully better and more experienced Kayak fisherman will chime in...BTW that forecast  you have , yeah rough  :drool :puker: :pukel:

Just my.02 cents

Definitely not gonna be certain till you get there.  Went to Doran today in spite a forecast of 10-20knots.  Got there to a glass condition.  Talking to a PB owner by the jetty and he said buoy 13 is not working so forecast are taken from way out buoys.  Don't know if it's true but last week was a bogus forecast too.  Called for wind but flat as a pancake when I got to Dillon.

It seems to me that the wind forecasts can be off by a significant amount (either way), but the forecast swell is usually pretty accurate. The surf sites (such as surfline) tend to be the most accurate, IMHO.

I guess Hmb wasn't meant to happen for me this weekend but east Carson river was. Scored my personal best rainbow trout.
