Fish Junky joined me for the Pyramid Fest in Nevada this weekend.  We arrived Saturday morning and launched at Warrior Point.  A lot of boats were there already, many of them jigging.  We stayed in the area most of the day venturing out into deeper water only to return to the shallows where most of the fish were congregating at about 20-30 feet deep.  I ended the day with 6 hook ups and 4 landed….my biggest going 25 inches and about 8 pounds.  I had about a dozen “hit no stick”misses.  Junky finished up with a 27 inch cutthroat and a lot of “hit no sticks”.   We camped out at the Fest on Pelican Beach and enjoyed the company of many old friends and of course the feast…..so much food and so little time.  Afterwards we enjoyed some adult beverages sitting around the campfire bull shitting with others about the ones that got away.  On Sunday morning we went up to Windless Bay and launched for a morning troll before heading home.  The wind was up early but quite do-able.  We fished until noon and called it a day.  Junky ended with one slot fish(17-20 inches) and I managed one slot fish and an oversized throw back.  The rules call for 0-17 no keep; 17-20 keep up to two; 20-24 no keep; and 24 and above you can keep just one.  We headed home Sunday afternoon tired but glad we made the trip.  Some photos for your approval…

Saturday ready to launch.

As you can clearly see it was "small craft advisory" WX.

One slot fish in the boat.

Junky scores a good one.

My largest Pyramid Cutt....looks like he's been eating well!

Same fish but would make a great cover photo.

Dave the tribe decides all the regulations.  Daily limit is 2 fish; 2 slot fish or 1 slot fish and 1 over 24 inch.  Possession is 4 total with only 1 over 24 inches.  All my fish came on either a black fly behind a Wiggle Fin, a size 20 Flatfish in "bloody frog" or a fire tiger spoon all trolled between 10-20 feet at about 1.7 mph.  This lake is barbless.  It would be a great place to have a hookup but at that distance requires camping out and maybe going for a few days.  Beach camping is $15 a day and a fishing permit is $11 a day.  We get together every April and October for the fest.....an original Fish Sniffer thing and anyone is invited.  Lots of food (everybody brings something), great fishing and a lot of BS around the campfire with a few adult beverages.  Check out the posts on Finaddict.us.

The jiggers claimed they had great luck with Maribou jigs in black or white.  Good luck.
