I got my wife to sew (Expensive machine, or I would have done it.) an old white curtain into a bag with a rope drawstring that I put a snap clip on.  I think the curtain is mostly cotton, but it has some synthetic in it.  It doesn't weigh as much wet as a gunny sack, and I think being white helps reflect some sun, keeps the fish cool enough, at least on the Monterey Bay. You could probably find a suitable curtain at Goodwill.

I like coffee roaster idea..l
Went to BayTackle in el Cerrito and got raped at $5/ bag...

Incredulous as to their overpricing on just about everything there from bait to simple burlap ... An extra few bucks isn't gonna kill me but I don't know why I still go there.

Find a local coffee roaster like some others said.  Or try costco, maybe you get a free burlap sack when you buy 30lbs of rice.
I only fish on days that end with Y

I stopped at 3 coffee shops today just to see if they have the burlap bags.  I got 5 from each and could have filled a trunk with the ones they said I could have.  I kept it to 5 because I don't know what I'm going to do with them all now.

I'll bring 'em to the next HOW event I attend and pass 'em out there.

With the coffee craze going on, roasters can't give sacks away fast enough. There's no reason to ever pay for burlap.

That's true.  I went to a place in downtown Sacramento, Old Soul Co., and they pointed me to a pile and said take as many as you want.  I took only 3 and bought a coffee as thanks.  The coffee was awesome and the burlap too.  Good deal.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Yeah, that's the ticket allright....Though the quality is variable, it's all FREE!

Tim Wright from Keystone Coffee is gathering a big bundle for the KC Derby.  I'll have them there in the morning to hand out by the public launch area for anyone who need 'em.  After weigh in, any extras will be up for grabs as well.
