Hello All

I am new to the board and new to kayak fishing the Pacific.  However, I have been fishing both salt and freshwater for 40 years.  I have also been a mostly whitewater kayaker (class IV-V) for 20 years.  I have plenty of experience in a flatwater kayak as well.  Just haven't put them together to do very much fishing...just some lake trolling.

Anyway, I have a dry suit, fishing kayak, rods, gear etc...  and a ton of experience.  I got tired of "wanting" to go rockcod fishing...and now I am "going".

I will be in Monterey fishing Sept. 23-24th.  I would love to find another paddler or two to head out on my first trip with.  It won't discourage me without...but it would make me a little more comfortable AND I always enjoy having a fishing buddy.

I don't know a ton about this fishery from experience...just a ton that I have read.  However, I expect to catch plenty of fish.  I have even been busy tying up some really nice shrimp flies...way better than those sold comercially...yes, my own recipe!  Happy to send pics and/or share a few if you have time to join me.

Feel free to respond here or PM. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Where in Monterey are you planning on going? I may be down that way, I don't really mind having to be the tug boat ;)

Just an FYI, you can pretty much fish anywhere down there and slay nice fish, buy the beer, I may make the trip down! If not good luck!

I might be down too. Havnt fished Monterey much but I've fished at pacific grove just a bit south of lovers point between the two marine reserves down there. I'll check back in mid week. Where were u thinking of launching from? Open to launch from wherever depending upon weather / surf?
