After the bite got spottier over the past 10 days, there was still hope for today's season closer, as Notaseal hooked three and landed one silver yesterday.  Today started out looking very promising with 55 degree water (!), but bait concentration was lacking, and no one - powerboat or kayak - was catching any salmon according to the radio.  A few of us launched at daybreak and tried for the early bite, but there was nothing doing.  By just after 9AM I took a break to eat my bowl of cereal at my tailgate, and then I proceeded with another round past the CG buoy, down by Camel, up through the inner washrocks and kelp paddies and back up to the Thumb area where Matt had seen a salmon follow his bait and Cam had seen at least one jump out of the water.  I worked the area for a while, but not even many rockfish or lingcod were biting.  I was on my Hail Mary, last pass of the day by the seaward side of the Thumb when I got a nice tap-tap bite.  I fed it line, it kept tapping, I fed more, and then it was on!  I had a chinook at the last minute!  Spent a little time seeing if another one would bite, but 5.5 to 6 hours worth was enough.  Hit the beach, fileted my catch, enjoyed a beer and hit the road for home.  Another season in the books at T-dad, and 9 kings bagged on the hot bite in the harbor over the past 18 days.  Rockfish Wars next week - we'll see if there are many salmon bycatches...

Thanks for following / adding to the post.

Way to go Eric! Very few can match your enthusiasm and hard work. You gotta lot of bull dog in you! I was that way when I was younger. Enjoy the great eating!
