After spending last weekend as the hospital, I decided to get my water therapy... Left my house at 4:30 and headed out to Monterey. Launched around 6:45AM with beautiful conditions... Got to the spot, started fishing but it was slow and the tight was kind of strong. I snagged several times and left more than $20 worth of gears at the bottom of the ocean. Then got closer to shore and the action got a bit better. Got several RFs (blues and browns) and a barely legal (23") ling (enough for lunch today and my neighbor dinner last night) between 100 and 70 FOW. I ran into PablitoPescador and then the wind started to pick up so I went back (my wife was waiting for me on the beach). We stopped for a bite on the way home at Moss Landing and here we go. Overall a good day on the water even if fishing was far from being as good as last time I was there with Bulldog/Alex...  I talked to a couple a kayakers on the beach and apparently fishing was slow for them as well

Was Good seeing you out there Frenchie. Fishing deep was really slow for me too. I only had one gopher in the yak until me and BaitnBeer started fishing shallow and got on some decent fish. That wind was no joke! Had to kelp up

Or a godamn pfd. BaitnBeer and I witnessed some sh*t that I still don't believe really happened. Long story short, guy drug kayak from the hedge parking lot to the launch (drug as in scraping the bottom of the yak, not the Cosby kinda drug) realized one of his yaks had a hole in it. He then tried launching his other 10' yak with his girlfriend aboard, realized that wasn't going to work and paddled in. Andy tried to give him some advice on where he could get his kayak patched up. His response: I don't trust anyone else with my kayak. He then left his gf on shore and paddled out with no pfd...in jeans. Who the hell goes kayakfishing in jeans!?!!!! (Unless you're fishing the Salinas River of course :smt005). Dude is a glutton for punishment and I really hope he survived the ordeal. I'm surprised he fit in his yak with balls that big

Good job, fellas! Sounds like you guys had better luck than me at SWS. Lots of swim baits with missing tails lol. Had a hitchhiker ling make it all the way to the yak and let go at the surface on my only fish of the day...a fat gopher right in front of the castle house. Talked to a couple guys out there and all said it was slow. The woman and I paddled in early and grabbed a coffee on the way home.

Glad your feeling better Frenchie !!! Not sure where you stopped to eat in Moss Landing ? But , you should really try the Lemon Grass that is near the Charlie Moss Café that is just north of the Salinas river liquor store. Stopped and bought some clam chowder to go one time. We had a beer while waiting for our order. All the plates going by as we waited looked excellent.

Thanks Alex. I went to a Thai restaurant and I believe the name was Lemon Grass. Good food, good service, not necessarily cheap but reasonable
