I was really excited to take advantage of the extended rockfishing season this year, but needless to say that didn't happen. My one and only trip this year is my one and only very late report. Regardless, I thought I'd briefly share...I launched out of Ft. Ross and had to work hard for the first hour to land a fish. First one up was a 15" verm that puked a few small octopuses/octopi/whatever for me. After throwing one of those on my swim bait things picked up. On my next drift I C&R'd a small gopher and then landed a nice 20" verm. I missed a few nice take downs on my next few drifts, but then things slowed down. I decided to leave early (noon) in an attempt to beat traffic on my way back, but it was futile...it always is :).

Anyhow, I plan to go back out this Sunday and was wondering if anyone else had plans to do the same. If so, I'll launch around 8am, but I can be flexible.

Right now I'm shooting for OC on Sunday morning. Plans still coming together, but more the merrier (especially another Sacramento yakker!).
Thanks for the invite, but I think I'll stick with launching out of Ft. Ross and avoid the crowds at OC. If your plans change and you guys have any interest in trying Ft. Ross, let me know or look for my little blue yak pictured above. If not, I hope OC is good to you tomorrow!
