Well Uncle Sam is getting me a new truck.  The HUMVEE is going away, it will be years before it is finally gone, but that bitch is going to the scrap yard finally.

Meet the new beast of the battlefield. I can't t ell you how happy I am that AM General and Lockheed did not get the contract. We are getting a truck built by a truck company, not an airplane company or some has been ripoff of a truck company.  I have worked on Oshkosh  trucks and have been impressed with them over the years, till they got away from analog and went to digital gauges.

Their equipment will provide years of use, with minimal expense to taxpayers, and improved safety for the troops...or at least I hope so.

I saw this news too today, great news for our troops!

"JLTV has been extensively tested and is proven to provide the ballistic protection of a light tank, the underbody protection of an MRAP-class vehicle, and the offroad mobility of a Baja racer"

By the time my guard unit gets it, I hope to be retired.  But I am excited to see its replacement on the horizon.

That looks pretty awesome, but for a "light" vehicle it seems pretty huge.  Can't imagine maneuvering one thru tight, congested city streets.

They are selling those humvees on the govplanet.com auction site. Just had an auction yesterday in CA with several listed. Another auction  scheduled for 9/2.

Try not to get one with a 6.2 engine, they are really old, and problematic
