I'd like to try for some leopard sharks this season. Any suggestions on where to go? I have heard that Bolinas Lagoon can be good. Anyone know of a good spot? Thanks

Shore or boat? North end of bolinas lagoon on a high tide can be good from shore. Tomales bay can be good anchored in a kayak.

Is there a problem fishing the north end of Bolinas Lagoon from a kayak?

At low tide there is no more lagoon, very deep nasty mud. I have done well on the North side and in the middle channel during outgoing and incoming tides.

Tomales bay can be hot (or cold) for leopards, (like all fishing),  I used to launch at a big turnout just south of Hog Island Oyster Co. in Marshall, there's an old building foundation at the edge of the water that makes a good launch spot.  I would paddle most of the way across and anchor up it 15-20 ft of water.  Lots of big bat rays, smooth hounds, spiny dog fish, and a few seven gills (one was over 60").  Some days non stop action and some days almost nothing,

here's a pic I titled one of seven, cause I caught 7 almost identical leopards.

I've recently caught one in Tomales bay, with a piece of salmon and a single hook shark leader. Good luck

Unfortunately I wasn't kayak-fishing for this one; Fort Baker pier in the SF bay, around 11:00 PM w/ocean leader hooks w/squid, 38 inches. GREAT shark tacos after the meat was soaked in milk for 6 hours.

They are found throughout the San Francisco bay. Emmryville pier is a great place from shore. Use smelly fish like makeral. Squid works okay but will attract more Rays. Rays are fun to fight but smelly or oily fish works best. You can launch near Berkeley pier as well. If you are planning on eating them I would go closer to the ocean. Pacifica can also yield leopards. If you catch and want to eat quickly bleed the fish by cutting the throat and the fins off the shark. Get it on ice and soaking in milk. They urinate themselves if you do not bleed them and will ruin the meet. If kept properly they are delicious.

I've caught a bunch in the Petaluma River. Basic shrimp works with a little added scent. You might get a sting ray also.
