Ive lived in Santa Rosa my whole life but just recently picked up ocean fishing. IM HOOKED! Been to salmon creek and caught a bunch of surf perch and recently went to doran beach off the jetti and caught a baby cabezone(which I released) and a greenling. Im just in awe of how cool these fish are in the ocean. My uncle recently bought a kayak and I've taken it to lake Sonoma twice but REALLY itching to take it out to the ocean. Does anyone have any ideas near bodega or Sonoma coast line that has a beach launch that was somewhat sheltered. Beach launch is preferred but not mandatory :). Any advice is much appreciated. I'm going to wait for the calmest day possible and take a friend who has been kayaking for a while to go out so I don't kill myself.

Welcome aboard.  Taking an experience friend is a good idea.  Go through some past safety posts and have the gear and know how to use it.  Practice self rescue in a safe place and know how to get back in while on the ocean.  Prepare for the worse and hope you never have to use that knowledge.

Welcome.  Check out Ocean cove and Timber cove.  Both sheltered beach launches in Sonoma.

Good site for swell reports:  http://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Timber-Cove/forecasts/latest/six_day

THANK YOU both for replying I'm excited and will definitely try to dump myself and get back on. Guess I'm bringing my wet suit. I'll do that at a lake though so I can swim to shore if I struggle to much haha :D
