Okay,
Im going to the Puget Sound for a week.I'm bringing my kayak and 2 daniellson pots. Im all riggged up for California.... but .. Washington state requires red and white buoys. I'm In Northern California. Far from Englunds or West Marine. No buoy paint up here. Can anyone recommend a cheap local paint for a week of crabbing that   will work? Acrylic..polyurethane.. whatever. I want it to stick to comply with regs while I am there for a week. I know someone has done this ... what do you think?
Thanks in advance for the amazing forum we have and anyone input is appreciated.. Im leaving in 2 days and have been so busy I just found out...

If nothing else, try duct tape.  I use colored duct tape on white buoys to make mine stand out from the others.  Works like a charm, 3 seasons and still going strong.

Fusion for Plastic by Rustoleum works and WalMart may have it. In a rattle can. Mask buoy with tape, jam it on a piece of pvc or broom handle and paint.

Hey Mntct,
Kinda off subject but saw you are in Yreka. I live about 30 minutes north east of there close to the Klamath. Always looking for someone to fish with. Met up with Crash recently, great guy and other than him, I've yet to meet any local kayakers from this area.Hit me up if ever your up to fishing company.

Any spray paint will last a couple trips.  Painted these two years ago, about a dozens trips and getting baked in the sun in the offseason and they're still good to go.

Rustoleum, that's what I use too but got it at OSH I think. Use the primer first, then the colored paint.  I like the safety orange ;)

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm either gonna go the rustoleum route re: Supervato or what ex-kayaker suggested. I have my own colors but Washington requires Red and white with your information on them. Im not sure if it has to be burned in or not, I better double check. I already have my info burned in. Albycor's suggestion is the way I would go if I didnt need the info on them.
It might be all for nothing with the biggest algae bloom in history hitting the Pacific Northwest! At this time.. no recreational crab or shellfish! I just found out today. Im gonna be ready to rock anyway.
Thanks again
This is what makes this a special forum and group in general. People taking the time to help each other out. Thanks all my fellow water Brothers and Sisters for making NCKA what it is!
