I usually don't go out Sundays to fish but did yesterday. Launch spot plan was to be SWN. Vehicles were everywhere at TC as I passed so figured it would be a hassle to go there. As I round the bend I notice the parking "lot" above Stillwater is totally occupied by work crew trucks and if you have ever launched there you know that is the only place to park after unloading the yak in the 10 minute unload zone. Alright then, I've been thinking about giving Salt Point a try for some time so up the coast, into the kiosk and pay the fee then to the parking lot and unload yak and all gear and wheel down to the launch. Impossible. I'm not going to even try to descend the "steps" and negotiate the rocks to the water. In the 60's there was an actual ramp there and a small boat could be launched on a calm day. You would think it wouldn't cost that much to improve what they have there now.
Wheel yak back to truck and reload. Get a refund of day use fee and head to OC , my last choice on a Sunday. Same procedure. Unload yak, wheel to "beach" and launch. All goes swimmingly with the converted sea yak to mirage drive system. I troll for an hour for a possible salmon then give up. FF is in erratic mode as it has been the last two trips but it now is almost in total dis-function. Even with transducer placed direct in water the readings are either wild or non existent. Catch a couple nice lings and a big bronze and head back against a chop with wind on top. Very pleased about the way the sharp SIK bow pierces water. Hwy One traffic was ferocious so took TC road Meyers to avoid the zoo. Weekday next time.

I feel ya. I would not launch yak from that salt point again. What a pain to haul gears back up.

Are you saying Salt Point is worse than Ocean Cove?  That's hard to believe.  I won't do ocean cove by hand anymore.  I'll pay the daily launch fee and use my vehicle.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Thanks for the report Charles.
