Nice but not going to edit on the camera and like the price and battery life more on the 3plus for diving and fishing since I already lost one this year..  Lcd will drain the battery and not going to touch screen it around water so other activities may have a better use for those features.

So if you get one, Sunny, does this mean I can be first in line for the previous model you will be selling? :smt003

A lot of the new features don't really apply as much to kayaking as they do other uses, but its really amazing to see how quickly these thing have evolved as improvements have been made. I definitely wouldn't use the LCD screen all the time, but having the ability to frame shots in real time is a nice feature. Some of the advancements to the WI-FI capabilities would be useful in other applications too. They're come a long ways since the original Hero.

I think there is a huge race between GoPro & Garmin with these units & rightnow appears to be a volley back & forth between them for features, size, battery life & waterproof factors.

I'm considering taking a Garmin unit with me out to Burning Man

The new VIRB X & VIRB XE

They are also compatible with the GoPro mounts.  I'm doing some homework to see if there are side-by-side comparisons.  Nothing against GoPro, but having some good competition in this market will help get the prices lower.

I definitely use the LCD screen on my Hero 4 Silver. It's great for adjusting and setting the camera position before I launch. Once I've got it adjusted, I turn of the LCD display.
