Greetings from the high desert,

I grew up fishing the skinny waters around the Chesapeake Bay for the standard buffet of flounder, redfish and specks. It was there I developed a deep appreciation for being on the water, and fully matured into a below average fisherman. So it would be a matter of course that I would eventually find myself in the driest state of the union, constantly chomping at the bit for any chance to step into liquid and chase the local residents. Despite the connotations the word 'desert' carries with it, I've found northwest Nevada and the eastern Sierras to be a bit of a kayak fisherman's paradise (although I do miss doing battle with bull redfish in three foot swells...) Typical haunts include Pyramid Lake, Stampede (there are some BIG smallmouth in that lake), Prosser, Caples and Tahoe if I'm feeling like burning some calories.

Let me know if you find yourself at a higher elevation, or wishing to wash the salt of your rig!

Cheers,
TJ

WTTM.

I lived in Maryland for 7+ years, but didn't get a chance to fish much there. If you ever want to fish in the Monterey Bay, let me know---I can show you how an average left coast fisherman does it...

Welcome aboard! East coast transplant here as well. I really wish I had made it out during the right times to fish the bars for those big runs of drum, or the cement ships for striper. Jealous here!
