For those of you fishing the salt for rockfish / lingcod / halibut, what is your favorite setup; rod/reel?

7-7.5 MH rod with Torium reel.  I wish I had a reel that auto engaged so I don't have to flip the switch when it's time to reel.

3' Barbie pole with Barbie spincast reel.  Great sensitivity, yet has the backbone to tame the biggest lingcod into submission.  However, the 3' Spiderman pole is quickly becoming a favorite.

7'   15-20lb Seeker Inshore with avet SX for 8 oz and up.

7'   12lb Seeker Inshore with Calcutta 250 for everything lighter.

These have been an awesome balance between strength and sensitivity.....they're just flat out fun to fish with (especially the 12lb Rod)

..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

I see a Barbie pole competition in some of the tournaments but not Spiderman.  There is a reason for this, the Spiderman poles are on the cutting edge of fishing rod technology and not available to fisherman at large.  Chris has won or placed high in several tournaments and I think the researchers are seeking him out to try their latest technology.  If you can get one, use it!

Single piece 7ft ugly stik tiger shark mh with an Osprey baitcaster. My back up is an old Bass rig. Rockies are a blast on the lighter tackle. The 7 footer offers a lot of versatility like being able to reach all the way around the yak and gives me plenty of swing for jigging but makes bringing larger fish with in Gaffs reach a bit tricky.
I only fish on days that end with Y
