I'm going to be out crabbing this weekend, and want to drop a line while pots soak. Do I have to have a regulation size net on board with me? My buddy will have one with him. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what you mean by "regulation size net" but you do have to have a crab measuring device for each fishermen on your vessel.(tandem)  As for the net I'd have to say no....never heard of such a thing.

I didn't know about that one.  I always have a net but never thought it was required.  Thanks.

Thanks for replies. From what I read from VK, it is probably not a good idea to fish without a 18" net on board. Correct?

You sure about this?  I couldn't find a reg that mentioned a measuring device requirement.... just the minimum size requirement.
