How do you Xfactor owners like it so far?  Im a off/on kick boat fisherman looking to get into yak  fishing.  Being a larger person, 6-2, 235 like the capacity of the X factor.  Is the guy in Ukiah the closest dealer to the bay area?
I also have a interest in the Prowler Big Game but not sure I want to hang out til it is released.  Hopefully something like the Xfactor will work just as well.  BTW, want to sell my Bucks Bags Bronco kick boat, anyone know where I can advertise it?
Thanks, Walter

Walter - we have  a classifieds section on the home page - feel free to post it there.

The X Factor is definitely a popular kayak for the bigger guys, but you might want to test paddle a few others - like the Cobra Fish & Dive and the new Prowler Big Game. My advise is to take your time on deciding which kayak will fit your needs. IMO: "comfort is key"  :smt002

Welcome to the madness! Good luck and hope to see you on the water soon!

FYI: Sean from Great White Kayaks has the X Factors and Fish & Dives  :smt023

Walter--I have a kayak shop in Eureka where you can test paddle all Of the Malibu line of boats. I'm 5'10" 210 and I fish from an X-Factor. I also have an Extreme with a trolling motor mounted but love that I can stand up and move around on this thing. Our coastline up here around cape Mendocino requires you to have a boat ready to meet the challenges of seas that shift from 0 to balls out before you can get your line back to the boat. Nothing out there right now matches the seaworthiness and durability in rough conditions of the X-factor. My Buddies all have Extremes and Tarpons and haul ass while I'm plodding along, But when I get there still cruising a steady 3 knots thier legs are soaked thier butt is wet and water has shipped over the sides. Dress for it and no big deal but I like the dryness of the x-factor, definatly a consideration at the design table. A rudder really comletes the boat. I reckon it's totally shark proof too if your given to that phobia like myself. I'm fearless out there in it but in my Extreme or my Sea-Kayak I'm lookin over the sides a little less! My dayjob is actually a pro-kayak instructor and Guide for sea-kayak expeditions so when it come to boats I've seen and tested all of them and as far as modern day fishing kayaks go the x-factor and new x-factor SD comes closest to doing it all except fileting the fish for you.

:smt001 Well, I too, em looking for a good yak, BUT, I have a different situation. I'm 6' and weigh 290 lbs. I know that when I start yaking, I will start loosing the weight. I have been looking for information on the prowler big game, but have not gotten much. Have talked to a few (Mooch) and he really like's his. What ever you find, please post what you find. Thanks,  :smt003

I thik you would be an ideal candidate for an X.  We are in Ukiah, so we are pretty close to Cobb.  Shoot me an email if you want, and I'd be glad to set up a demo.

No, the nearest Bay Area Dealer for Malibu Kayaks is Outback Adventures.  They have two stores - One in San Jose and one in Larkspur (Marin County) - http://www.outbackadventures.com

I have both the X Factor and the Pro Explorer.  The X is a great boat in every way for storage, stability, rigging possibilities, etc. but it is a BITCH to car-top it by yourself!  I think Marauder is lighter but with the same advantages listed above.  When I'm going solo I take the Pro E - also very stable, etc.  (I'm 6'2'' but a skinny 190!)  I got mine from Sean at GWKC and he will treat you right.  He'll trailer all his boats to Lake Mendocino and let you try them all out.  Good luck.  BTW - Outback Adventures doesn't carry Malibu (or Cobra for that matter).

It looks like they may be now.  They are showing up on the Malibu web site when I do a dealer search.

What do you know, they don't even have them listed on their site, although I noticed they chimed in themselves on this thread...http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/bb/index.php?topic=6011.msg49704#msg49704

They do have a cutie who works in the Marin store - and very helpful!  :smt007  But actually, Sean has Leah so that's a wash!

Don't know where you are located but Outback adventures do have X-factors I have been there in The San Jose location. I also have a X-factor. I have only been in a couple of kayaks the other is a cobra tourer. The X is very stable and very dry ride. It is heavy but I can handle it I am also 6' 2'" and 230lbs. I got mine from Sean at Great white kayak's. He will treat you right. The choice is yours. Enjoy.
