Nice assortment of lures raymac.  Other than the striper I caught this weekend, slow trolling a minnow, I've not been able to catch anything on the troll...I don't know if it's my speed or the way I'm setup.  I usually end up anchoring close to shore or actually getting off the boat onto shore and casting the kastmaster...gotta keep trying to catch something on the troll though.

How do you set up those needlefish for trolling (sinker --> flasher --> 12" of leader --> needlefish)? I'm a picture guy so if you have the time I'd really appreciate any tips you can provide.  Do you use the same setup for the rest of the lures you troll?

Great question imgonnayak. Ray uses a downrigger also and FF to dial in the depth. But would like to see Ray's other secrets.

I'm a troller. I fish from an electric powered boat which has a (continues force).I have two manual downriggers with lead weights and line releases.I cast my lure out behind the boat hook the line to the release and lower the weight to a desired depth. When a hook up happens the line is released and you fight the fish with no additional weight.I see that a small downrigger can be attached to a kayak which the same application can be aplied. When trolling enough force has to be applied so the lure is set in motion when the fish attack, the hook is set.My thinking is if you  get the lure down in the fish's area and the fish is interested they will attack.Use lures that match the bait fish in the area. Its a mind game.I  have used many lures and these work for me.All my lures are used with a down rigger. All lures are  attched to the end of the line with a snap swival to help prevent line twist No flashers or dodgers are used.I watch my colored depthfinder all the time.
The secrets to the way i fish Quarry are troll  in water 20 feet deep or less.Troll White lures overcast days, flashy lures bright days.I troll one to two days after fish plant(no fish no catch) fish seam to become more active at that time. Apply PERSERVERANCE.  hope this helps.
