Tips for Del Val for my pops

My dad is going to try out kayak fishing for the first time next weeken at del Val.  Any tips for him to catch some fish?  I only fish the ocean...

Trout and catfish? He's better off bait fishing this time of the year. The narrows is a good place to start and move towards Heron Bay if he's not getting any bites.
